Planned upgrade changes: Columns, subtotals, and screens, oh my!

This upgrade change reveal is a three-for-one! Next month in version 6.1.0, we’ll be releasing some improvements around viewing transactions in RPM.

First, we’re separating the “Amount” column into two side-by-side “Payment” and “Deposit” amount columns. This will make it easier to see at a glance whether money is moving into or out of a client’s account, particularly when payments, deposits, or transfers are voided or returned. The two-column view will apply everywhere payments and deposits are listed together in RPM, including the Transactions screen and the View Trans tab on the Clients screen.

Second, we’re adding Subtotal buttons at the bottom of transaction amount columns. For example, clicking Subtotal at the bottom of the amount columns on the Transactions screen will automatically calculate the total payment and deposit amounts for the transactions that a are currently shown. This works in tandem with filtering (both via the Search Criteria at the top of the screen and the right-click and Ribbon Menu filtering options) to allow you to quickly view totals for specific groups of transactions.

Last but not least, we’re making the subscreens under Transactions non-modal! What does that mean, exactly? It means you can open other screens and switch back and forth between them when you’re in the middle of entering a one-time transaction or processing scheduled transactions.

For example, have you ever been in the middle of using the Enter Payment screen and needed to go back to check something on the Clients screen? Before, you would have to close out and lose any details entered for the new payment, making it a real pain. In 6.1.0, though, you can switch over to any other screen briefly, then return to the Enter Payment screen and pick up where you left off!

This change will apply to the all one-time entry screens and processing screens for payments, deposits, and transfers.

Which of these three changes are you most excited about? Let me know below!
