Check out the results of this week’s poll, which is all about whether we should add optional approval processes to RPM for processing payments and printing checks.
First, I wanted to begin the poll by asking about the separation of duties at your company. We know that some companies who are large enough have different staff members handle processing payments and printing checks, but I wanted to see just how widespread this situation is. It turns out that most companies have the same person handle entering, scheduling, processing, and printing payments, but that companies are more likely to have someone else handle reconciliation.
Check out the fully graphed totals here for both processing payments and printing checks:
Next, I asked how likely you thought your company would be to make use of approval processes, both for printing and processing. Overall, slightly more of you were somewhat or very unlikely to use these features. This makes sense; smaller companies who only have one or two payees wouldn’t have much use for approval processes.
More people indicated they were very likely to utilize approval processes for checks than for processing scheduled payments.
See the full breakdown of the responses here:
I also wanted to cast a line and see what people’s immediate thoughts were about approval processes in general. The majority of these comments were about making sure this would be optional, not required. I can assure you that any approval features we might add to RPM would be optional—the people in charge at a company could turn them on for the rest of the company, but they would not be automatically enabled for everyone.
A few people also mentioned that it would be nice to require approval for payments over a certain amount. That’s an idea we hadn’t thought about, but we can see how it might be useful!
Thanks for your participation and responses, everyone! We will be taking a break from polling over the holidays, but stay tuned next week for the first upgrade change reveal for version 6.0.9, which comes out in February!
