Moving RPM to a new server

Before moving to a new server, make sure you have the latest version of RPM installed on your existing server. You can find your current version on the System Info screen under the RPM Help menu. The latest upgrade is available on our website:

When moving to a new server, set up and test the new server BEFORE removing access to the old server. When you are ready to go live with the new server, copy the Network Path again from the old to the new server to restore the latest data.

Open the System Info screen under the RPM Help menu and print a copy of the report. You’ll need the Network Path from that report.

The entire RPM Server” folder should be copied to the new server. The location for the RPM Server” folder is the Network Path from the System Info report. Users need to have ALL RIGHTS to this folder on the new server. All users should have RPM closed when the folder is being copied.

Once the RPM Server” folder has been copied, reinstall the RPM Client on each workstation from the new location. To do that, run \\Server\RPM Server\Client Install\RPMClientSetup.exe on each workstation (where “\\Server” is the new server). This can be done on a single workstation to test the new server prior to the live move for all users.

For example, if your old server was “Server1” and the new server is “Server2” and the Network Path for RPM was “\\Server1\RPM Server,” you would do the following:

  1. Copy “\\Server1\RPM Server” to “\\Server2\RPM Server”.
  2. Run \\Server2\RPM Server\Client Install\RPMClientSetup.exe to reinstall the RPM Client on each workstation.

Users can verify the connection to the new server on the System Info screen under the RPM Help menu.
